THE STORY

IT STARTED IN 1946, WHEN TRUETT CATHY OPENED HIS FIRST RESTAURANT, DWARF GRILL, IN HAPEVILLE, GEORGIA. CREDITED WITH INVENTING THE BONELESS BREAST OF CHICKEN SANDWICH, MR. CATHY FOUNDED CHICK-FIL-A, INC. IN THE EARLY 1960S AND PIONEERED THE ESTABLISHMENT OF RESTAURANTS IN SHOPPING MALLS WITH OPENING OF THE FIRST CHICK-FIL-A AT A MALL IN  ATLANTA IN 1967. SINCE THEN, CHICK-FIL-A HAS STEADILY GROWN TO BECOME THE LARGEST QUICK-SERVICE CHICKEN RESTAURANT CHAIN IN THE US, BASED ON DOMESTIC ANNUAL SALES WITH OVER 1,900 LOCATIONS IN 42 STATES AND WASHINGTON, D.C. IN 2014, ANNUAL SALES WERE NEARLY $6 BILLION. CHICK-FIL-A IS STILL PRIVATELY HELD AND FAMILY OWNED. WITH 47 CONSECUTIVE YEARS OF POSITIVE SALES GROWTH, CHICK-FIL-A HAS SET ITSELF APART BY PIONEERING INNOVATIONS AND DELICIOUS PRODUCTS—INCLUDING THE EVER-POPULAR CHICK-FIL-A® CHICKEN SANDWICH.

Meet Scott Berry Your Chick-fil-A® Operator Grassfield

It’s my full-time job—and really my passion—to make sure your visit is always a great one.

While I am part of a large organization, as an Owner-Operator, I’m actually an individual business partner of Chick-fil-A. This brings not only responsibility and accountability, which is good for Guests and our Team Members alike, it also allows me to bring a local flavor to the Restaurant.

I’m a proud native of Chesapeake. I attended Greenbrier Christian Academy and
Regent University. I live here with my wife, Betsy, and our two wonderful sons, Judah and Jack. We named our playground after our twin daughters, Paige and Ruby, who passed away
in 2017. We hope it’s a place of joyful fun for every girl and boy.

We train our Team Members in service and hospitality, helping them learn and grow
so they’re equipped to be valuable and contributing members of our community. We want to extend our positive impact beyond the walls of this Restaurant by having a meaningful influence on nearby schools, churches and neighborhoods.

I love meeting people in our community, so if you happen to see me around the Restaurant, please take a few minutes to get acquainted. I truly look forward to meeting you.
